I used to start every single morning sorting email by hand, and it ate a good hour or two before I did anything that made money. Now a scheduled task in Claude sorts everything into four buckets and drafts my replies in my voice before I sit down. I'm out of my inbox within fifteen minutes.
During the holidays that matters even more, because those mornings belong to my daughters, not my laptop. This is the same skill I use in my own business, packaged so you can set it up for yours in one session.

Setup in one session
A file called daily-triage-skill-interview.md lands in your inbox right after you sign up. This is the file you upload to Claude to kick off the interview.
Go to Customize in your Claude account, upload the file, and confirm the skill update. Free and paid Claude accounts both work.
Open a new Claude chat and say "Let's build my triage skill." Claude asks you 9 questions, one at a time, and generates your personalized skill file at the end.
Go to Settings, then Connectors, and authorize Gmail. The skill can't read your inbox until the connector is on.
That's the whole shift. You start the day with a sorted, prioritized list instead of an unread count, and you close the laptop sooner.
Questions
No. The skill installs and runs on free Claude accounts. A paid account gives you more daily messages, which matters if you're triaging a very high-volume inbox, but you don't need one to get started.
You're connecting through Claude's own built-in Gmail connector, the same permission model you'd use for any Google-authorized app. You control the connection from your Claude settings and can revoke it any time.
That's the point of the 9-question interview. It builds your buckets, your VIP senders, and your noise list from your answers, not a template, so service providers, agencies, and product businesses all end up with different setups.
Yes. Tell Claude what changed in a normal conversation (a new team member, a platform you no longer check, a sender who should always be urgent) and the skill file updates in that same conversation.
No. It drafts replies for you to review, edit, and send yourself from Gmail. Nothing goes out without you.
